WebQuests
A WebQuest presents student groups with a challenging problem to solve which targets higher order thinking skills. Current events, and controversial social and environmental topics work well because they allow different perspectives on a topic to be explored and presented. Students are provided with a wide variety of Web resources to explore and make sense of the issues involved in the challenge.

1. The Quest - the question that is posed to students for exploration
2. Students are given common background to the topic
3. Students are divided into groups in which each student or pair of students have a  particular role or task. They become experts on one aspect of the topic.
4. Student roles come together, providing an opportunity for groups to share their new understandings of the topic through discussions and debate.
5. Students synthesize their learning by completing a summarizing act which often involves communication sent out for real world feedback
