Podcasting

 

A Podcast is a downloadable audio file, somewhat like a radio show, or a video file, like a music video. They can be used in many ways throughout the curriculum.


Creating Podcasts with Students:
  • develops communication skills through script writing, reading and speaking for an audience
  • promotes developing, producing, exchanging, sharing and evaluating
  • one form of “representing” in the curriculum
  • school news shared by students on a weekly basis “Around our School”
  • public service announcements in Health dealing with issues
  • multidisciplinary projects such as tour guides, story telling, interviews, public personality profiles, radio shows
  • subject specific topics – poetry readings, book talks

Bringing Podcasts into the Classroom:
  • up-to-date source of real-world material
iTunes - Open iTunes and go the iTunes store. Select Podcasts in the menu and then you can search for recordings that may benefit your students' learning. Most are geared to upper middle years and high school ages.
Our City Podcasts - Students from around the globe are invited to submit a recording all about the city they live in
UNICEF Radio - a new global radio service focusing on the health, education, equality and protection of children.
