LearningPlus Overview
What is the LearningPlus Professional Development Program?

LearningPlus is a five year PD program designed to support the development of technology-rich, differentiated learning environments for all students. The goal of this program is to support teachers, teacher-librarians and learning resource teachers to teach more responsively through understanding and applying principles of differentiated learning to improve student achievement. Specific areas of focus are teaching with the brain in mind, inquiry learning, critical and creative thinking, and information literacy with technology as a tool to support learning.

LearningPlus is framed around the essential question "How do we improve student learning?"
The following guiding questions frame our workshops:

Who am I as a learner?
Who are my learners?
How do my students learn?
What do I want the students to know?
How can I build on student strengths and prior knowledge?
How will I know if all students have learned? What will I do if they don't?

How does my role as a reflective teacher enable student achievement?

A LearningPlus Team consists of a teacher-librarian, a full-time classroom teacher and may include a learning resource teacher from the same Regina Public School. As of the 2006-2007 school year, all Regina Public Elementary Schools are involved in LearningPlus.
