Regina Public Schools' Board of Trustees are elected through a public vote, now held every four years, on the fourth Wednesday of October. The next general election will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2016.
Board members are elected on the basis of seven subdivisions. These subdivisions are not the same as the wards for electing city councillors. You can see the subdivision map here. Under the subdivision system, each elector votes for only one candidate from the list of those candidates seeking election in the subdivision in which the elector resides. The Board of Education will be comprised of the winning candidates from each subdivision.
The Returning Officer is the person responsible for running the election. If you have any questions or would like more information about school board elections in general, please contact Elections Regina at 306.751.4479.
Please find here information and links from the Regina Board of Education, the Saskatchewan School Boards Association and Elections Regina for candidates interested in seeking election to the Regina Public School Board in the October 26th election.
Nomination papers and related information are available from Elections Regina, 1731A Francis Street, or online at http://www.electionsregina.ca/info-for-candidates/. Nomination papers will be accepted by the Election Coordinator at the Elections Regina Office from September 6th to 20th from 8:00AM to 5:00PM and on Wednesday, September 21st from 9:00AM to 4:00PM.
